Then come and join our global team as PhD (f/m/d) to support within the area of 4D computed tomography.


Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.


Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will explore new methods to reconstruct and postprocess computed tomography (CT) images, coming up with scientifically sound and innovative solutions improving our existing prototypes
  • You will design and conduct clinical evaluations in the context of time-resolved (4D) respiratory CT imaging for radiotherapy
  • You will assess the dosimetric impact of novel image processing algorithms for radiotherapy treatment planning and quantify improvements achieved thereby
  • You will publish in international scientific conferences and journals
  • With support and caring supervision, you will lean to autonomously solve a scientific problem
  • You may travel both internationally and domestically for collaboration visits and conferences

Your qualifications and experience:

  • You have completed a Master Thesis in a topic related to medical engineering, physics or similar
  • You are familiar with CT imaging (i.e., CT physics, methods for CT image reconstruction and postprocessing)
  • You ideally have good knowledge of requirements and workflows in the clinics, especially a radiotherapy department (e.g. treatment plan optimization, image-guided radiotherapy) from your education and/or prior work experience
  • You have some experience with image processing and are familiar with Python and/or C#


Your attributes and skills:

  • You are able to communicate in English (verbally and written) on a high level
  • You work with scientific rigor and have already written a scientific text in English (e.g., a university assignment or your master thesis)
  • Organizing yourself and working independently comes easy to you. You also do not have problems to ask for help if you are stuck
