CONTEXT
Group Technology, Richemont’s internal department committed to delivering world-class technology and innovation, is seeking a Mendix Application Engineer to join the Retail Finance team (RFTR) in Lisbon, Portugal, belonging to the wider Product Area Finance.
In this context, you will be a key application specialist and owner, contributing to value creation within the RFTR team. Your role will encompass the full lifecycle of Mendix applications. You will play a crucial role in accelerating our digital transformation initiatives and delivering value to various business units.
The first and biggest application currently in improvement and rollout phase is a collaboration tool between our own Boutiques and the Retail finance and operations Backoffice.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
The RFTR product team is based in Geneva and Lisbon, and manages multiple applications, including SAP, as the backbone for finance of the Group, and the Retail Backoffice App on Mendix, collaborating for this closely with business counterparties such as Business Process Owners, and local finance teams.
In this role, you will fully own the Mendix applications, encompassing the entire lifecycle from conception to operation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Continuous Improvement & Product Strategy: Work closely with cross-functional teams and the Product Owner to support strategy development, incrementally improve products, design business scenarios and use cases, and evaluate enhancement requests.
- Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and Mendix solutions.
- Solution Design: Create comprehensive technical designs, data models, user interfaces (UI/UX), and workflows within the Mendix platform to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Application Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy Mendix applications, modules, and integrations following best practices and architectural guidelines.
- Integration: Develop and maintain integrations with various internal and external systems (e.g., ERP, APIs, archives), specifically focusing on seamless integration where relevant, utilizing Mendix connectors, web services
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of Mendix applications.
- Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, debugging, and enhancements for existing Mendix applications, acting as a third-level support expert and ensuring operational excellence.
- Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user manuals, deployment guides, and deliver effective training to end-users and support teams.
- Performance Optimization: Proactively identify and implement performance improvements for Mendix applications.
HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?
- Education & Experience:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You have 5 or more years of professional experience in software development, with a significant portion focused on Mendix development.
- Experience working in the Retail industry and with B2C processes is highly valued.
- Technical Skills & Mendix Expertise
- Proven experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining applications using the Mendix low-code platform.
- Mendix Advanced Developer certification (or higher) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Mendix Studio Pro, Mendix Modeler, and the Mendix platform architecture.
- Proficiency in creating domain models, microflows, nanoflows, pages, and custom widgets.
- Experience with Mendix Atlas UI framework and responsive design principles.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts.
- Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for UI customization.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and data integration patterns.
- Familiarity with database concepts (SQL, relational databases).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Integration experience with SAP systems, particularly for Mendix applications, is a plus.
- Experience with Java for custom Mendix extensions is an advantage.
- Methodologies & Professional Skills
- Knowledge of Agile Product Management frameworks/methodologies (e.g., SAFe, SCRUM, Design Thinking) and practical JIRA usage is an advantage.
- Effective communicator, active listener, and a strong team player, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
