The E-Commerce Growth team aims for around 2 days a week in the office to connect, usually a Wednesday & Thursday. The role is based at our London Central Offices in Pimlico.

About the role
Become an E-commerce Category Growth Lead at John Lewis! Lead and grow our online presence in Fashion, Home, Technology & Beauty.
This leadership role is responsible for planning, forecasting and delivering the E-Commerce sales and profit vs budget overall for Commercial Categories. This will be achieved by drawing insights from business performance data to inform key stakeholders in the identification and prioritisation of growth opportunities, supporting the strategic direction and planning of the Categories.
In this role, you will lead and develop your E-Commerce Category Growth team, setting the strategic direction and outlining what your categories need to grow, influencing stakeholders to deliver commercial targets and working with teams in Commercial, Customer, Content & Operations and Optimisation & Product to deliver these actions.
You will use your functional knowledge, providing insight that enables you to influence improved decision-making and prioritisation across Commercial, Digital and Customer teams. You will lead the team to monitor performance and external benchmarks for you to ensure risks/opportunities are highlighted to stakeholders to improve assortment breadth/price, on-site/app customer journeys or marketing tactic channel activity. You will use your commercial acumen and customer centricity to maximise E-Commerce sales and profit, using data to drive customer satisfaction and site metric optimisation (conversion, traffic and average order value) with stakeholder teams across Customer and Category Proposition Groups.
Key responsibilities:

Influence where to focus, identify, articulate, and prioritise the biggest growth opportunities for the Category Product Groups.

Propose how we prioritise requirements and actions, including between category-specific opportunities, and between commercial strategy and digital enablement opportunities, and how these are progressed and delivered via other teams.

Lead and develop a team of category growth managers to create impactful results and the cultural conditions that enable talent to develop and thrive

Develop and execute the E-Commerce trading Category Growth strategy aligned with overall business goals
·
Shares expert and insightful analysis of Category performance data to drive E-Commerce trading actions
·
Aggregates end-to-end site customer behaviour analysis across funnel steps, campaigns, traffic type & content to maximise channel performance and inform customer journey improvements.

Constantly reviews external market benchmarks to share recommendations and inform category assortment development and site customer journey development
·
Influences and informs categories around assortment range, price & availability using site performance data to highlight risks/opps.

Oversees and validates high-quality trading insight, commentary and site metric forecasting

Essential skills you’ll need
·
E-Commerce experience - understands how to influence conversion, traffic and AOV through multiple digital and trading functions.
·
Highly numerate and strong data-analysis orientation. Comfortable with interpreting complex data from multiple sources to provide clear recommendations and converting into insight, action, sizing and prioritisation
·
Experience presenting and working closely with senior stakeholders on managing and driving performance and levers/actions to improve in immediate and longer term.
·
Experience of leading in a fast moving and challenging organisational environment requiring constant reprioritisation and decision making.
·
People Management - coaching, man management, stakeholder management, matrix management.
·
Strong influencing skills and ability to Influence B&M around availability, price, and a detailed understanding of conversion funnel dynamics. Ability to build strong Stakeholder relationships
·
Strong and highly collaborative team player able to work in matrix management both with E-Commerce (influencing operations, site effectiveness, product) as well as broader functions
·
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate marketing insights and customer feedback into actionable plans
·
Strong verbal, written and presentation skills to articulate a vision for change and evidence of keeping stakeholders engaged and informed at all levels.
·
Strong commercial acumen.
