In our cybersecurity team you’ll be helping to safeguard the financial system on which millions of people depend.

You’ll be making banking more secure by designing, implementing, and operating controls to manage cybersecurity risk. You’ll help define HSBC Group cyber security standards, deliver Global Security Operations ad Threat management services, provide round-the-clock monitoring and security incident response services, and oversee Network/Application/Infrastructure Security. The work you do will provid3e assurance of the adequacy and effectiveness of security controls to Business Risk Owners.

The Lead Cybersecurity Analytics Engineer role will form part of CSA’s Advanced Projects team, joining a global team of cybersecurity specialists, data scientists, and software engineers from diverse backgrounds to deliver critical analytics engineering requirements for Cybersecurity teams.

The position is a mid-senior technical role, requiring a technical background in either data engineering, data science, or one or more of the Cybersecurity sciences (e.g. network, endpoint and cloud security, cryptography, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment, privileged access management, anomaly/intrusion detection, incident response, or offensive security).

The Lead Cybersecurity Analytics Engineer role will work closely with Principal engineers within the Advanced Projects team, contributing to and coordinating delivery of advanced analytics solutions to cybersecurity problems through rapid development of prototypes and engineering of production solutions. There is ample room for growth in the role, with opportunities to develop skills across multiple domains, starting from a strong foundation in one or more core technical areas e.g. data science and data engineering. For this role, cybersecurity-specific knowledge is preferred but not essential.

In this role you will:

• Ingestion and provisioning of datasets, delta tables, and/or curated, re-usable data assets to enable Cybersecurity use cases.
• Driving innovative research & development to test and evolve new technologies and advanced analytic techniques.
• Exploring and developing innovative capabilities, exploiting emerging technologies and data science to help stay ahead of advancing cyber threats.
Supporting Cybersecurity teams in using data and advanced analytic technologies effectively to enhance operations and inform decisions.
• Delivering critical analytics engineering requirements across Cybersecurity.
• Developing new data products, analysis platforms, and custom AI solutions to enable Cybersecurity teams to monitor controls more effectively, automatically detect and triage malicious activity, optimise manual tasks, better protect HSBC, and meet the needs of customers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Applicants without a Bachelor’s degree will be considered if they have demonstrable career experience within one or more of the required areas and/or have relevant industry certifications in Data or Cybersecurity.
• CSA are a supportive team who welcome candidates from diverse skills and educational backgrounds. Thus, candidates with transferrable skills gained through software development or any other technology background will also be considered.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or similar preferred.
• Experience with Data Technology including Data Engineering, Dataset and Data Asset Curation, Big Data Technologies (Databricks, Spark etc), Data Modelling and Cataloguing, Database Architecture and Design etc
• Understanding of Cybersecurity Sciences like Network, Endpoint and Cloud Security, Cryptography, Malware Analysis, Vulnerability Assessment, Privileged Access Management etc.
• Knowledge of data & analytics is key.

This role is based in Sheffield & Edinburgh .
