We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  

Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book Manager 

Role purpose:

The jobholder is responsible for supporting Interest Rate Risk of the Banking Book (IRRBB) for Mexico. Self-reliance and the ability to work unaided are essential to the role. The job holder also requires capacity to identify errors in the processes and should have a clear logic and structure thinking to be responsible of the Business-as-Usual process and reporting for HBMX. The type of work requires initiative and drive.

Main activities:  

·  Ensure that the structural interest rate risk in the banking book is appropriately approved, valued, and controlled within approved limits.
·  Ensure the correct execution and distribution of all reports implemented by Global Treasury for the assessment of interest rate risk in the banking book and the completeness of the Risk Buy-in process.
·  Estimation of Liquidity Premium and Liquidity Recharge distribution along the business lines.
·  Estimation of break funding cost across all products
·  Monitor behavior models for assets and liabilities.
·  Work with Business Lines to understand the impacts of business initiatives on IRRBB management.
·  Responsible to MX and LAM Head of Global Treasury; other functions (Liquidity and Funding, Recovery and Resolution Planning, Capital Management); Markets Treasury; Second Line of Defense and all Finance departments
·  Provide insight to Bank’s Senior Management through management information and make recommendations to support the effective management of interest rate risk in the banking book.
·  Maintain and develop productive relations with other Finance teams and Business teams.
·  Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams.

Requirements

Experience:             

·  Good track record of implementation of complex programmes or projects.
·  Knowledge of the macroeconomic environment and HSBC business.
·  Extensive experience of risk management and mitigation.
·  Wide knowledge of financial activities and deliverables.

Skills:      

·  Deep understanding of finance in the banking business, mainly Asset Liability & Capital Management (ALCM), Treasury and Risk management activities.
·  Knowledge of Basel standards for IRRBB.
·  Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
·  Strong financial analysis skills with ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy and ability to communicate complex ideas both written and verbally at all levels of the organisation.
·  English proficiency is a must due the daily interaction with stakeholders across the HSBC Group.
·  Programming Languages knowledge (i.e., Python, R, SQL)

Qualifications:

·  University degree in financial or quantitative discipline.
