Job description
Business analysts facilitate business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes.
The Business Analysis role is responsible for supporting:
· Development of functional and non-functional requirements during the initial phases of the software development lifecycle
· Management of requirements throughout the duration of the lifecycle.
Senior business analysts facilitate business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes. They successfully manage the requirements development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements while providing continuous improvement to the process and methods.
Senior business analysts create viable and consumable specifications including acceptance criteria in preparation for the construction and testing of IT solutions.
Autonomy of the BA: Works under broad direction. Is fully accountable for own technical work and/or project/supervisory responsibilities; Receives assignments in the form of objectives; Establishes own milestones and team objectives, and delegates responsibilities; Work is often self-initiated. They may have significant responsibility for the work of others and for the allocation of resources. Makes decisions which impact the success of assigned projects i.e., results, deadlines and budget. They develop business relationships with customers.
A senior business analyst performs a challenging range and variety of complex technical or professional work activities; Undertakes work which requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts; Understands the relationship between own specialism and wider customer/organizational requirements.
Key responsibilities
The overarching goal of Business Analysis role is to promote the design and build of quality services to enable business processes.
The analytical/decision making responsibilities of the Business Analysis role is to:
· Plan, estimate and socialize the business analysis approach. This information will be provided to and used by the project manager who is responsible for project planning and monitoring and controlling.
· Identify the business need for the change by understanding the problem the business is trying to solve or the opportunities to improve the business. This may include assessing the current capabilities of the business to support the business need.
· Develop requirements through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification. This yields multiple levels of requirements in support of the business vision.
· Manage requirements to the appropriate audience throughout the project to ensure all stakeholders have the same understanding and agreement as to the requirements. This implies all conflicts, issues and changes to requirements will be managed to keep everyone informed of the effects of change and the impact on the solution being delivered.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
· Very good understanding of the customer strategy, services and business processes
· Ability to work and team effectively with EY Technology teams and other management personnel including on a global, virtual basis
· Knowledge of service transition methodology, tools and templates
· Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises
· Management skills to manage more than one transition simultaneously
· IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in different project phases
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
· Ability to create User Stories and work in an Agile environment

The Business Analyst should have the following skills/talents
· Be able to be a critical thinker and open to exploring ideas concepts that may be foreign to them
· Requirements that are created must be (at all levels) understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
· Be able to effectively communicate with appropriate business and technical subject matter resources for elicitation to ensure all business needs are understood
· Be able to apply due diligence and forethought during the creation and management of requirements
· Be able to effectively collaborate with other disciplines throughout the business analysis process
· Be able to time box activities such that Requirements can be base-lined prior to design and build processes
· Be able to perform impact assessments prior to processing changes in order to provide clear and concise holistic impact(s) to a system based on change(s) requested
· Be able to proficiently use Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio
· Be able to be flexible in project assignments as the project’s prioritization may change on a frequent basis
· Be able to understand and evaluate time-lines as compared to work needed.
· Be a skilled Story Author
Experience: 8 - 10 years’ experience in the IT corporate environment as a Business Analyst / Product Manager
Certifications: CBAP (Preferred)
