What You'll do
Cisco's Supply Chain Organization is seeking a Software Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA!
In this role, you will be accountable for configuring, testing and analyzing software platforms in controlled environments.
Your responsibility includes follow through the Failure Analysis End-to-End process till the case closure. The failure analysis process is closed loop, providing data to Manufacturing and Engineering team for the prevention of recurring failures.
Role & Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for software root cause analysis including evaluation of field failures and returns.
- Evaluation of development life cycle test failures.
- Defect detection including containment analysis.
- Software Reliability growth testing.
- Bug verification (emulate customer network topology).
- Opening SW bugs and working with engineering team to see it to closure.
- Providing data to engineering team for the prevention of recurring failures.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Technical Leads and Customer Support to understand and come up with the right solution to replicate customer reported issue.
- Mentoring and training other FA engineers.

Who You Are
You should have a track record of success, a proven work ethic, ability and desire to lead engineers and a can-do attitude. In addition, you have the following experience:
- You are experienced in C, C++, Python, Perl, TCL, Shell scripting and Java and are comfortable/experienced in Unix/Linux/FreeBSD based environments.
- Strong networking and L7 (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP etc.) protocol knowledge.
- Deep understanding of ISO's OSI model and TCP/IP protocol suite.
- You understand of Layer2 protocols and have the ability to analyze hard problems.
- Understanding and hands-on experience in networking and knowledge of Cisco technologies.
- Having Cisco certifications like CCNA is desirable.
- You've had exposure to Software defined Network (SDN) and virtualization.
- You have experience in unit test methodologies and agile working environment.
- You're able to work & collaborate effectively with remote teams globally.
