Who You'll Work With

As a Consulting Engineer, you will report directly into the Migration Services Team with primary responsibility for the development of migration automation tools, support of migration related presales & scoping efforts, and delivery of migration projects. At times there may be significant customer interaction included, and you may travel up to 25% per year - though travel will vary depending on the project.

Who You Are

  • You will participate in or lead complex Data Center, Branch and Campus infrastructure design/implementation and migration projects
  • You will provide pre-sales support to help position migration services, including scoping, technical proposal and statement of work development
  • You will incubate new migration offerings based on Cisco market direction
  • You will gather Customer Requirements, identify risks, and develop a right-at-the-first-time Migration methodology.
  • You will identify & influence additional business opportunities in collaboration with the sales team by leveraging knowledge of customer's network, challenges and future plans
  • You lead migration kickoff workshops with customers and Cisco internal teams
  • You create customer-specific migration strategies utilizing a proven Migration Methodology
  • You create technical documentation for internal & external customers, including Method of Procedures, solution design, installation procedures, testing procedures, troubleshooting guides, etc.

  • You produce Network Migration Plans and enable internal partners to deliver
  • You generate network configurations for highly complex networks
  • You explain technical issues and present information in a concise manner to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • You maintain effective working relationships with assigned customers and project managers.
  • You effectively work independently and as part of a team to implement solutions for customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires BS, CS, or University degree equivalent and 6+ years relevant experience in network engineering – knowledge in Routing & Switching technologies
  • CCIE or relevant 5 years' experience
  • Must possess strong leadership, customer relationship and account management skills (engaging personality)

Desired Skills

The Consulting Engineers primary role is positioning, architecting and delivering service solutions for Migration Services. The engineer will be expected to work on Enterprise and Service Provider segments. This position will help drive sales, serve as a Migration subject matter expert, lead delivery efforts and mentor other technical consultants within the team.

Experience/Skills:
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise and expert knowledge of Cisco's Enterprise products and solutions. Candidate must be self-motivated, team oriented and must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Programming language knowledge is desired. The following skillsets are thus desired of this candidate:

  1. Minimum 3 years' experience within Advanced / Professional Services
  2. Customer facing consultative experience
  3. Strong understanding of Network Migration methodologies in the Enterprise and Service Provider environment.
  4. Strong understanding of migration strategy and planning
  5. Solid understanding of development of Method of Procedures (MOP), Network Implementation Plans (NIP), and Cutover Procedures.
  6. Strong understanding of automation and tooling
