What You'll Do

The Cisco Consulting Engineer is a critical customer-facing role that requires the instinctive ability to recognize gaps in customer capabilities and to translate those into business requirements and an execution strategy. The proposed solutions typically span horizontally across architectural boundaries, addressing business challenges and driving outcomes in the customer environment. The Consulting Engineer is responsible for the development of the overall vision that underlies the customer‐centric solution, and plays a primary role in the design and implementation of that end‐to‐end solution.


Who You'll work with

Be part of the Cisco Customer Experience (CX) Delivery Team for Africa, a team targeted to assist SP and Enterprise customers in achieving business outcomes through technology.


Who You are

- Several years' experience in customer facing roles within services delivery, IT or pre-sales

- Strong hands-on experience with at least one of the following products/technologies:

1) Large-scale Enterprise network designs based on Cisco IOS platforms.

2)Cisco Nexus (or ACI) Data Center products;

3) Large-scale IP/MPLS Service Provider network designs based on Cisco IOS-XR platforms (ASR9000, NCS5000);

- Ability to understand and explain the benefits around existing Networking/IT industry trends, such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IOT)

- CCIE certification preferred

- Ability to be a trusted advisor - to influence, inspire confidence and build deep and enduring relationships with key executives who influence or make business decisions.

- Ability to define outcome‐based solutions, drive, and track success measures, simplify and explain the complex.

- Core skills in: problem solving, negotiating, technical writing, customer relationship management, effective presentation, and active listening.

- Conversant in IT operations processes (e.g., ITIL) and how IT processes, practices, and capabilities are leveraged in solution development, deployment, and management.

- Ability to deliver long term, strategic business relationships that bring business growth results.

- Proven and effective leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with others through conflicting pressures and priorities while resolving complex issues
