Job Description:
Role Overview
The VMware L3 Administrator is responsible for advanced management, troubleshooting, and optimization of VMware virtualization environments. This includes vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related infrastructure. The role requires deep expertise in VMware technologies, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues independently while supporting enterprise‑scale deployments.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and vCenter Server environments.
- Provide L3 support for escalated incidents, ensuring timely resolution of complex VMware issues.
- Perform patching, upgrades, and configuration management across VMware infrastructure.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization for virtualized environments.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high‑availability solutions.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and storage teams to ensure seamless delivery of VMware services.
- Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and document resolutions.
- Maintain knowledge base and documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Skills & Experience
- 7–12 years of experience in VMware administration with strong L3 expertise.
- Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server integration within VMware environments.
- Expertise in VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion.
- Experience with VMware SRM (Site Recovery Manager) and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for hybrid VMware deployments.
- Proficiency in PowerCLI scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Ability to lead critical incident resolution and mentor junior administrators.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: VCP‑DCV, VCAP, VCIX, VCDX (VMware Certified Design Expert).
- Experience with VMware Horizon (VDI) and end‑user computing.
- Exposure to monitoring tools (vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, Nagios).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.

Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements
Clear and fluent English (both verbal and written)
Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams
Demonstrate ability to take ownership of and accountability for relevant products and services
Ability to plan, prioritize and complete your own work, whilst remaining a team player
Willingness to engage with and work in other technologies
