CGI’s Defence & Intelligence business supports multiple government agencies in delivering their varied missions with the common aim of protecting UK interests at both home and abroad. To further develop our capabilities in this sector, we are looking for Architects to work alongside our client within a flexible resource team on a range of client projects.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities working in the client organisation will include: -
• Provide the bridge between business need and the supporting technology, building a holistic view of the organisation
• Advise on technology enabled business transformation and define IT strategy, requirements, solutions and roadmaps that deliver the business objectives in the most cost effective manner
• Select and architect technology solutions, shaping technology programmes, developing and embedding architecture capability, ensuring alignment with the organisations wider business and architecture strategies
• Assess business and technology problems as the Business Analyst gathers requirements, examining classic scope and feasibility questions.
• Developing of Technical Architecture models
• Building strategic relationships with the IT community and propagating the architectural journey
• Programme portfolio planning and development of roadmaps for technology enabled business transformation programmes
• Ongoing architecture governance and providing delivery assurance, support and direct to delivery teams through the lifecycle
• Technical Architecture definition and design, including delivery approaches, to sufficient detail to enable effective engagement with delivery teams and supply partners
• Technical Architecture assessment, analysis of issues and development recommendations for their resolution.

Whilst on client site however, as the eyes and ears of CGI you will be expected to : -
• Support CGI’s investment decision making process in the context of implementing wider capability investment portfolio
• Maintain and enhance your own knowledge of CGI’s business operations and those of key partners, in conjunction with an understanding of strategic developments in technology, to identify and exploit opportunities to deliver value through investment in technically enabled capabilities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You should also be able to demonstrate proven experience and ability in the execution of activities involved in successful architecture within a secure environment, including:

• Technical Competencies:
o A working knowledge of the systems implementation lifecycle
o Understanding of the drivers for IT architecture
o Professional qualification (degree in relevant discipline) or certification of at least one of the following: Microsoft (MCA), CISCO (CCAr) or Oracle (Java EE or SCEA)
o Experience of working in a matrix managed environment
o Specialist knowledge in one of the following areas: infrastructure, applications or data architecture
o Production of application, infrastructure or data architecture design
• General Competencies:
o A working knowledge of the systems implementation lifecycle

The role requires the highest level of UK Security Clearance, Developed Vetting (DV). You should either hold this clearance already or be willing and eligible to undergo this level of clearance. Whilst being based predominantly on client site in London, you may be required to travel to other sites as necessary. Role is flexible on start date to allow for the clearance process to occur.
