Position Description:
CGI is seeking a highly skilled Storage Engineer to join our team in a dynamic, client-facing role. You will work across cross-functional environments, collaborating with CGI stakeholders, NetApp partners, and end-clients to consult on and execute critical engineering initiatives. This role involves end-to-end storage lifecycle management, including administration, configuration, deployment, and complex migrations.
Location: Knoxville, TN or Dallas, TX (Hybrid model available). Travel: 75–90% travel to various CGI and client sites is required.
FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
. Ability to understand and convey customer needs and your recommendations to other storage professionals
. Translating requirements into technical and systems specifications, configurations
. Providing technical analysis to ensure solutions are operationally sound
. Subject Matter Expert with NetApp StorageGRID technology – deployment, administration & support.
. Expert technical capabilities with a wide array of NetApp Suite of Products, Third Party Applications & Tools, SAN, NAS, EMC, Cisco, Nexus, Linux and other systems
. Performing complex technical work which will include administration, configuration, deployments, proof of concepts, documentation, and working with infrastructure (storage, network and servers) in some technical capacity.
. Provide various levels of 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier support
. Present technical solutions and ideas to Engineering and Operations teams
. Ability to run and document testing completed on NetApp hardware & Software suites
. Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and releases for Storage
. Fully document technical solutions to include logical and physical system diagrams, data flow diagrams, test plans, and as-built diagrams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
. Skill set familiarity with NetApp Technologies: C-DOT, ONTAP, 7Mode, OnCommand, HWU, SmartSolve, ActiveIQ , as well as with Storage Products and Cisco
. Experience with racking, stacking, cabling and hardware deployment of various NetApp Storage Cluster models and switches – ONTAP CORE Knowledge is Key
. Thorough knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems
. Understanding of NAS, SAN, NIS, DFS, CFIS, NFS, and AD concepts
. Experience in storage capacity planning
. Experience in storage monitoring
. Experience working on projects for data migration, storage monitoring, and/or new application deployment initiatives
. Experience in working knowledge of storage, cloud, infrastructure, and enterprise operation systems environments
. Strong Problem Solving & Analytical Skills
. VMWare

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $154,300.00.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the SME for NetApp StorageGRID technology, overseeing deployment, administration, and high-level support.
• Technical Implementation: Perform complex technical work across the NetApp Suite, SAN, NAS, EMC, Cisco, and Linux environments, including Proof of Concepts (PoC) and hardware/software testing.
• Solution Architecture: Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system configurations, ensuring all solutions are operationally sound.
• Documentation: Fully document technical solutions, including logical/physical system diagrams, data flow diagrams, and as-built documentation.
• Support & Collaboration: Provide Tier 1–3 technical support and present innovative solutions to Engineering and Operations teams.
• Innovation: Participate in the evaluation of emerging storage technologies and new product releases.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• NetApp Mastery: Deep knowledge of ONTAP (C-DOT, 7Mode), OnCommand, HWU, SmartSolve, and ActiveIQ.
• Hardware Deployment: Hands-on experience racking, stacking, cabling, and deploying NetApp Storage Cluster models and Cisco switches.
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Unix/Windows OS, VMware, and protocols including NAS, SAN, NIS, DFS, CIFS, NFS, and Active Directory.
• Operational Experience: Proven track record in storage capacity planning, monitoring, and executing large-scale data migrations or application deployments.
• Technical Breadth: Proficiency in Automation & Scripting to streamline storage operations.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, paired with the ability to lead technical conversations and act as a "trusted advisor" to clients.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
Advanced Skills (Preferred):
• Dell Unity experience (specifically FC datastores on VMware).
• Containers: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Migrations: Experience with NFS conversion from FC.
• Operations: Familiarity with DII operations.
• Security: Existing Clearance is a plus.
Certifications (Nice to Have):
