Your future duties and responsibilities:

Backup L2 Administrator (IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM)

Location : Bangalore, Hyderabad ,Chennai,Pune

Role Overview :

The Backup L2 Administrator is responsible for advanced management, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise backup and recovery systems. This includes IBM Spectrum Protect (formerly Tivoli Storage Manager – TSM) and related technologies. The role requires deep expertise in backup infrastructure, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues independently while ensuring data protection, availability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2 support for escalated incidents across IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM backup environments.
- Manage and maintain backup servers, storage pools, schedules, and policies.
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of backup infrastructure.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of backup systems.
- Implement and manage disaster recovery strategies, replication, and restore testing.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to backup failures, restore operations, and tape/disk libraries.
- Automate routine backup tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams to ensure seamless backup coverage.
- Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and document resolutions.
- Maintain knowledge base and documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

- 6–8 years of experience in enterprise backup administration with strong L2 expertise.
- Hands‑on experience with IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM in large enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of backup architecture, storage pools, deduplication, and retention policies.
- Expertise in disaster recovery planning, replication, and restore testing.
- Experience with tape libraries, disk storage, and cloud backup integrations.
- Familiarity with databases (Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL) and VMware/Hyper‑V backup strategies.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation for backup operations.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, storage systems, and OS integration.
- Ability to lead critical incident resolution and mentor junior backup administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: IBM Certified Specialist – Spectrum Protect, ITIL Foundation.
- Experience with other enterprise backup tools (NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam) for hybrid environments.
- Exposure to cloud backup solutions (Azure Backup, AWS Backup).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.
