Application Support Analyst
Be part of something challenging and rewarding and join CGI as an Application Support Analyst as part of a Test Environment Managed Service (TEMS). As part of a 20 strong team you will work onsite with a large Asset and Wealth Management client of CGI’s. The team is split between London, Chelmsford, Bangalore and Singapore and provides 24/7 support of the integrated test environments.
In order for our client to act upon their investment decisions and make trades, they must do this through front-end applications. The environment that supports these applications/trading platforms and ensures that they are all running smoothly is called ‘Production’.
‘Test Environments’ are environments that also contain (a combination of) these applications, where testing of improvements, changes and new applications can occur without affecting live trades. When issues occur, or testing inevitably (and often purposefully) causes a job/workflow/application to fail, TEMS is the first line of support in order to rectify the problem. If TEMS do not have the capacity to fix the issue, there are specialist teams on hand to provide specific support to help resolve the defect/issue.
We are looking for an Application Support Analyst who is a quick learner. In return we will provide excellent training on a number of bespoke applications.
Your future duties and responsibilities
• User administration
• Environment re generations
• Operational support, encompassing Environment and application checks, and Incident management and resolution.
• Executing ad-hoc requests
• Escalation and co-ordination of Infrastructure related issues
• Involvement with the infrastructure change and incident management process
• Chairing weekly team meetings
• Contribute to and minute weekly manager meetings
• Attend weekly Change Advice Board (CAB) meetings in order to provide TEMS with visibility of global infrastructure changes that may affect our ability to support environments/applications 24/7
• Complete monthly service report regarding the performance of the TEMS team for submission to client management
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The best candidates would ideally have a breadth of technical knowledge rather than being a subject matter expert on one technology. They also need to have the ability to find solutions to problems that they have not encountered before which will involve applying their existing knowledge to new issues.
Ideally you will experience of working with Wintel Server and one of the following technologies:
• ORACLE SQL/PL SQL
• MS SQL Server
• IBM Websphere MQ
If you have had exposure to the following technologies it would be great, but they are not essential.
• MAESTRO (Tivoli Workflow Scheduler)
• Automic UC4 scheduler
• Microsoft technologies
• Web applications
Experience within financial services (specifically Asset Management) would be a nice to have but is not essential.
However, it is essential that you have previous experience of an Application Support role, as well as having good communication skills. You will also be a quick learner and will have excellent attention to detail.
