Job description

Objectives of the Position    

     
BASF Shared Services Center Kuala Lumpur was established in 2005 to provide functional services in Finance, Controlling, Information Services, Human Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Procurement, and Import-Export Order Management to BASF companies in the Asia-Pacific region. The center is part of BASF’s Global Business Services division, with three other sites in Berlin and Ludwigshafen in Germany and in Montevideo, Uruguay.
This Web Application Developer position will support the Global Technology Unit to build solutions that enable business service transformation for the organizations within and beyond the Global Business Services Hub in Kuala Lumpur.

Main Tasks

Digitalization / Innovation:

 

·  Work with functional teams, relevant BASF organizations and/or external vendors to provide advice on and implement digitalization and innovation solutions
·  End-to-end involvement in projects involving tasks such as functional and technical requirements engineering, technical feasibility assessment, solution design and development, testing, deployment, documentation, training, communications, and post-production support
·  Support the progress review, monitoring and updates of various initiatives across the organization
·  To work on specific topics in the field of workflow system and low-code application development driven by Agile methods: Lean UX development, Scrum approach with sprint planning and UI development
·  Work with various new middleware and portal technologies existing within the BASF technology landscape

 

Compliance and Quality Management:

 

·  Ensure all activities carried out by the functional teams follow relevant BASF policies, standards, processes and procedures

 

Technical Expertise and Support:

 

·  Provide technical support for existing solutions in production, involving tasks such as troubleshooting and problem resolution
·  Provide technical advice for new solution development
·  Create the necessary user, functional and technical documentation on solutions developed
·  Assist in knowledge transfer activities as required

Job Requirements

Education     

 

·  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering, or equivalent

Working Experience  

 

·  Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience
·  Technical & Professional Knowledge    Technical Skills (mandatory):
·  Experience using low-code/no-code platforms such as Outsystems and Bizagi 
·  Experience with modern web development technologies such as Javascript, CSS, HTML and XML
·  Familiar with Web Services/API technologies
·  Working knowledge of RDBMS such as MSSQL
·  Experience developing SQL queries

 

Technical Skills (nice-to-have):

 

·  Experience building modern web applications on Vue.js, React or similar
·  Experience in Agile software development
·  Experience in API development
·  Familiarity with DevOps concepts
·  Familiarity with Azure DevOps boards, pipelines, releases and test plans

 

Professional Experience / Skills:

 

·  Good business communication, presentation and writing skills in English
·  Able to communicate with openness, clarity, organizational awareness, and empathy to achieve the desired results, particularly in driving organization change
·  Able to work with minimal supervision
