Objectives:

In the product family “Digital Laboratory” we continuously optimize and innovate the digital laboratory support and solution landscape, including validated environments (esp. Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice). We enable automized laboratory data capture and seamless data flows as key foundation for subsequent data integration and analysis. In Addition, we provide on-site laboratory support and tailored solutions to meet specific needs of laboratories. We are responsible, among other topics, for supporting Chromatography Data Systems (CDS) as well as LIMS applications within BASF.

As a senior specialist Digitalization, you will support and expand highly efficient Laboratory Data Management Systems (e.g .LIMS, ELN, CDS ect.) in cooperation with external and internal teams. You support and advise our partners on complex IT application issues as well as on the digitization and automation of laboratory processes.

Main Task:

- As a senior specialist digitalization, you will support and expand highly efficient laboratory data systems with a focus on technical consultancy of chromatography data systems (CDS) and Laboratory Data Management Systems (LIMS) in cooperation with external and internal teams.
- You support and advise our partners on complex IT application issues as well as on the digitization and automation of laboratory processes.
- You take care about a safe, trouble-free operation of CDS/LIMS solutions you are responsible for.
- Planning and setup of new CDS systems is part of your job, as well as operational support and migrations of existing systems.
- You ensure systematic quality assurance for the validation of accurate data processing and you ensure compliance with BASF’s cyber security and data protection guidelines
- As part of a specialized internal team, you control external suppliers and have close contact with our laboratory partners
- You will be part of different DevOps teams that develop Lab Data Management solutions for chemists in R&D or QA/QC, and in close interaction with external suppliers

- Study or training in the field of computer science, natural sciences or a similar subject
- You have several years of practical experience in the support of complext IT systems in the laboratory area. Strong experience in supporting chromatography data systems CDS, in best case you are a specialist for OpenLab.
- You have experiences on Laboratory Data Management Systems (LIMS) e.g. LabVantage, LabWare, or equivalent
- You have good presentation and communication skills
- You value user satisfaction driven by excellent user experience.
- You feel comfortable talking to end users and empathizing with their needs.
- You have a growth mindset with a curiosity to learn and improve to foster a positive and energized culture.
- You thrive working as part of a remote and international team.
- Good understanding of application server (e.g. JBoss); experience working with Linux or Windows-based software packages and tools.
- Knowledge in the support of Microsoft and Linux OS client and server systems.
- Admin skills (medium) for SQL-servers
- General network / infrastructure skills (basics)
- Knowledge in system interface with ERP systems such as SAP
- Experience in managing end to end project delivery
- Experience in process mapping, gap analysis and driving improvements
- Knowledge of working in regulated environments (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO)
