The Global Procurement division is responsible for BASF's purchasing activities worldwide. We negotiate contracts that provide BASF with tangible added value. Our focus is on the procurement of raw materials, technical goods and services as well as logistics solutions. Our comprehensive market know-how and deep understanding of value-adding chains make us a valuable partner for the operating divisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In BASF´s Global Procurement, you will be part of the Center of Excellence - Negotiations and Analytics. You will leverage game theory and mechanism design to optimize procurement´s competitiveness in auctions and negotiations.
· You take responsibility as project lead for the application of game theory in high-volume awarding projects and use your scientific and analytical knowledge to develop innovative awarding concepts together with the Global Procurement team.
· You lead cross-functional workshops to secure comparability of suppliers and negotiation scenarios, develop advanced negotiation trainings and teach category teams.
· You sustainably implement the methodology of game theory within BASF procurement and herewith help to turn procurement into a strategic value driver.
· As a coach for BASF sales teams you participate in auctions or advanced negotiations with their customers.
· You deepen your knowledge by scientific and/or practical exchanges with professors and external experts in the field of game theory.
· You work together with the Advanced Analytics and Risk Management team to enrich the preparation of awarding projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
· PhD or an outstanding master´s degree in the field of Economics, (Applied) Mathematics, Computer Science or a similar background
· long-term experience as project lead for game theoretic awarding projects and as moderator of cross-functional workshops
· strong strategic mindset and analytical skills that enable you to quickly familiarize yourself with complex and challenging environments
· very good communication skills and fluency in either German or English
