Job description
BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Guangdong Verbund site project would be BASF's largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. The site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide, and will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards.
The new smart Verbund site will include a steam cracker with a capacity of 1 million metric tons of ethylene per year and downstream plants for consumer-oriented products. By utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards, the site will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production.
What you can expect
• Our goal is the implementation of digital technologies and applications in chemical plants, to improve work processes and increase the production efficiency.
• As a part of the global Digital Plant team you will coordinate the creation of a digital, intelligently linked representation of a real asset – the so-called digital twin. The digital twin will therefore enable many future use cases in other products like augmented reality or artificial intelligence.
• Your activities will include the digitalization of a real plant, by following a standardized and proven procedure create validated 2D- and 3D-data.
• The implementation of the necessary technology, digital workflows and roles within the whole organization of a plant and the respective service providers will be part of your activities, too.
• You will guide users how to use digital methods and processes during the asset lifecycle, to raise the potentials of cost and lead time reduction combined with quality increase in brownfield projects, plant modifications, maintenance, TARM and operations. On the way to the digital asset lifecycle, you will offer change management support, accompanied by training and coaching on easy-to-use tools and enhanced digital processes.
• With your contribution and close collaboration with the global Digital Plant product teams you will help to create Digital Plants for BASF Sites in China especially for the Zhanjiang Verbund Site.
What we expect
• Master Degree in Chemical/Process/Electrical and Instrumentation/Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in planning, construction, operation or maintenance of or in chemical plants.
• Experience in usage of digital tools e.g. SPI, SPID or S3D and methods in data driven engineering projects e.g. BIM, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality.
• Very good project management and coordination skills.
• Ideally working Experience in international projects and agil methods.
• The will and ability to drive change and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Creative and motivated working style with a strong focus on innovation.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and virtual team.
• Excellent communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
