Job description
BASF plc is a subsidiary of BASF SE, marketing a wide range of BASF products in the UK. These include agricultural solutions, automotive refinish paints, acrylic monomers, fine chemicals, intermediate chemicals, speciality chemicals, dispersions, and plastics. The sales centre for BASF plc and the business service functions for all BASF Group companies operating in the UK, are located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, the headquarters of the BASF Group in the UK. BASF plc is an agent for BTC Europe GmbH, our pan-European in-house distributor, focused on speciality chemicals and performance polymers. As well as the headquarters in Stockport, BASF plc has sites in Alfreton, Bradford, Widnes and Bury St Edmunds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
BTC is BASF's in-house distributor that supplies a wide range of performance chemicals to a variety of industries and applications including home care, personal care, coatings, adhesives, plastics, and lubricants. As a Sales Representative, your responsibilities will include:
· Working as part of a European team you will be responsible for managing UK and Ireland distribution, export and commodity customers.
· You will ensure the efficient management of these customers by supporting and developing the use of appropriate digital tools, as well as supporting the development of appropriate customer management processes.
· You will be the key interface for all commercial negotiations and technical enquiries for your customers.
· You will participate in business development activities and growth projects, as well as pro-actively develop your sales skills for potential future career growth.
· You will support the development of our team mission (to be lean, fast, efficient and creative) and values (Passion, Agility, Customer Focus, Entrepreneurship)
· This position is an internal sales role based in the Stockport office although occasional travel can be expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
· You will demonstrate the entrepreneurial drive and excellent customer-facing skills required to pro-actively develop sales and contribute to the success of the business.
· It would be beneficial but not essential to have a graduate-level education in an appropriate technical/chemical subject area (or the equivalent).
· The position requires the ability to develop an understanding of a broad range of BASF products and their applications.
· The position requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong prioritisation and organisational skills.
· You will have a willingness to study and gain external industry qualifications (when necessary) to further enhance your technical competence and personal development.
· Equally important is your ability to form relationships with customers and within BASF, therefor excellent communication skills are essential as is your ability to collaborate and network with others.
· You should hold a valid UK driving Licence.
