Job description



In the Advanced Materials & Systems Research Division, our multifaceted team works together to develop functional materials and systems for high-performance, innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers in various different industries. At the same time, we meet the legal and economic requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In Advanced Materials & Systems Research, the Structural Materials Processing group works on technologies for the preparation and processing of polymer compounds, as well as on the development of novel thermoplastic and reactive foam systems.

·  As a laboratory manager you will work independently on projects as well as work packages and take over the management of subprojects in the area of styrenic foams (EPS and XPS).
·  In addition, you will be responsible for the subject-specific leadership of the employees assigned to you in the laboratory and ensure compliance with occupational health, safety as well as environmental protection regulations.
·  The establishment and expansion of contacts in research with operative units and external partners is also part of your tasks.
·  You observe and evaluate new methods, market trends and competitive activities regarding IP and share your newly acquired knowledge with all levels of the project team.
·  In addition, you will facilitate the knowledge transfer within BASF's particle foam activities on the main topics of EPS and XPS, such as processing and flame retardancy.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  PhD in engineering sciences (plastics technology), chemistry or materials science
·  Experience in polymer sciences
·  Good knowledge of German and English for effective communication
·  Motivation to achieve success together to drive innovation
·  Enthusiasm to act entrepreneurially
