RESPONSIBILITIES
The team for Multiphase Flows is part of the group Fluid, Particles and Reaction Modeling in our central research division. The team supports research and production in the development and scale-up of optimized multiphase processes by the application of advanced simulation methods and our engineering know-how of gas-liquid and liquid-liquid flows. You will work in the global R&D network of the BASF as a research engineer with the following tasks.
· You will translate physical insight from simulations into solutions for process design and optimization.
· Furthermore, you will support scale-up from lab to production by application of scale-independent simulation models.
· You will initiate, define and manage projects, in which you, together with the project team, take care of meeting technical and economical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of the project results.
· Moreover, you will drive innovation through fostering of interdisciplinary contacts, both with internal and academic partners.
· In addition, you will support the further development of the team through implementation of new simulation models and methods as well as optimization of workflows and driving digitalization in the research community.
QUALIFICATIONS
· a degree (ideally Ph.D.) in process, chemical or mechanical engineering with above average results
· sound knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and programming knowledge with C or C++
· experience with modeling tools such as Fluent, StarCCM+ or OpenFOAM (advantage)
· fluent communication in English and German (if you currently do not speak German, then you should be willing to learn)
· creativity, personal initiative and interest in interdisciplinary cooperation
