Where the Chemistry Happens… Power Distribution / High Voltage Technician (1903408) – Freeport, Texas We are seeking a professional like you to provide technical expertise to the Power Distribution Department by utilizing your experience in the areas of maintenance, operation, and contractor oversight. Power Distribution Technicians or High Voltage Electricians are directly responsible for maintenance and operation, preventive and predictive activities for the Freeport, Texas sites electrical power distribution, transmission, and generation equipment. Power Distribution / High Voltage Technician responsibilities include:

·  Provide the site production facilities with a reliable, uninterrupted, and safe electrical energy supply.
·  Possess knowledge to author switch orders, switching and isolation procedures for sites distribution network.
·  Ensure all activities comply with site and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
·  Perform and supervise operation, maintenance, and installation of sites electrical equipment.
·  Provide support for sites Capital projects.
·  Perform routine substation inspections and enter work orders to address deficiencies.
·  Provide direct oversight of contractors, line crew, and testing technicians, to include safe work practices.
·  As required, provide energy consumption reporting.
·  Obtain knowledge to operate sites distribution control system, SCADA.
·  Provide coordination and communication to sites utility supplier
·  Communication with internal and external customers, engineering, maintenance, and construction
·  Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations. Climb ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, and grasp on a constant and repetitive basis. Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, and rain. Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new and existing process and construction areas.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Basic Qualifications:

·  High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of Power Distribution experience OR Associates Degree and 3 years of Power Distribution Experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
·  Minimum of 1 year of electrical equipment testing methods experience
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience with relay programming and communication networks
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience with NESC, NEC, NFPA 70E, ANSI & IEEE codes and standards
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience with electrical testing methods, protective relays, AC/DC systems, controls, schematics, one-line interpretation and relay three-line diagrams
Preferred Qualifications:
·  BSEET, A.A.S. Degree Power/Electrical Technology or equivalent is strongly preferred.
·  Minimum of 3 years of power distribution, transmission, or generation experience.
·  Working knowledge of chemical or process plant equipment.
·  Mechanical aptitude
·  CPR/First Aid, AED training
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Securit y.
