Piping Engineer - Stress Analysis (2001430) - Houston, TX
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to provide expertise in Piping Stress Analysis and develop piping material specifications for capital investment projects in North America. This role supports the development and execution of capital projects for new chemical plants, major expansions, debottlenecking of existing plants and infrastructure facilities. These capital investments support the BASF Corporation 2020 growth strategy and this job function helps to ensure that the investments meet the cost, schedule, and quality requirements of the responsible Business Unit.

Formula for Success
· Leveraging your educational background in an Engineering discipline and your strong work experience, you will perform complex piping stress analysis for critical piping services using Caesar II. You will troubleshoot plant specific piping stress problems using your expertise in static & dynamic calculation, FEA calculation, Nozzle load analysis, as required.
· Demonstrating your ability to manage multiple priorities, you will select expansion joints when necessary and approved, determine movements, prepare requisitions, datasheets, and review related vendor drawings.
· Your knowledge in pipe supports will be a valued asset as you specify appropriate springs/struts/snubbers when necessary, determine movements/loads, prepare spring/strut/snubber schedule, requisitions, and review related vendor drawings.
· Your experience in large capital projects and deep knowledge in ASME codes and standards will allow you to provide stress analysis expertise to small / large capital projects and quality checks of a contractor’s stress model and reports.
· Your piping material engineering knowledge will be essential as you develop and update Piping Material specifications according to ASME, API and other applicable codes and standards and assist projects in obtaining technical standards deviation approval.
· Applying your knowledge and familiarity in S3D / other Intergraph tools, you will lead piping designers and engineering partners as required to ensure safety, quality of design, specification, schedule and cost compliance of the projects.
· Successfully engaging within and outside the organization, you will collaborate with discipline counterparts from Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical and process. You will also consult with site operations, maintenance, Technology managers, external vendors and other stakeholders as required.
