JOIN THE TEAM

Our Service Unit Global Intellectual Property is one of the biggest inhouse IP units in Germany. We are responsible for all services relating to patents, trademarks, trade secrets, plant variety protection, copyrights, designs and IP Intelligence, as well as all IP-contracts. We are a global team servicing the entire BASF group and work in close alliance with the operating business units as well as with the research and technology platforms. In this way we create a basis for future business success and actively influence BASF's competitive situation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Patent Paralegal, you play a central role in our team. You support our patent attorneys in the processing of patent applications and work closely with national and international patent
offices and customers.

·  You file patent applications (priority applications, subsequent applications) after a prior plausibility check and you independently process deadlines within the scope of the patent application procedure in our electronic patent database.
·  You control various patent processes, process them independently and conduct correspondence (German and English) with inventors, outsourcing attorneys, foreign attorneys,
patent offices and the corporate divisions.
·  Continuous training due to changes or innovations in the various patent jurisdictions and the incorporation of digital tools for the further development of the processes is as important as the
participation in various project teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  completed training as patent paralegal or comparable qualification
·  good understanding of the patent system and the legal basic eye for detail and a keen interest in intellectual property
·  fluent language skills in German and English
·  diligent work ethic and organizational skills, strong communication skills and team spirit
·  proficient in MS Office applications and common patent software (ideally previous experience with Anaqua)
·  digital affinity (experience with PowerApps, PowerAutomate, Power BI is a plus)
