Job description

BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site would be BASF’s largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. The site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide. The new smart Verbund site will include a steam cracker with a capacity of 1 million metric tons of ethylene per year and downstream plants for consumer-oriented products. By utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards, the site will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production.

A strong Site Logistics Operations (SLO) is important for the success of BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site. Site logistics connects the production facilities among each other, secures the raw material supply and acts as gateway to our customers. Time, costs and reliability of supply require logistics processes to be organized in a future-oriented way, which includes smart logistics technologies such as automatic warehouses, auto-guided vehicles (AGV), conveyor systems, robots, YARD management systems, and electronic warehousing management systems (eWM) etc.

You will be Operation Manager for container termina comprising of container yard, tank container cleaning station and manual truck on-site-transportation. In that role you are responsible for the continuous administration and control of day-to-day operations to deliver high quality site logistics service to our internal and external customers in safe, cost effective and well-timed way and as well to ensure QEHS compliance and social accountability during daily operations activities.

EHS Responsibilities:
- According to corporate, company and statutory EHS requirements, implement the relevant safety and environment protection policies and procedures
- Involve in the safety review for MOC and capex, lead the investigation for root cause of any incident and near miss in field of container yard, tank container cleaning station and manual truck on-site transportation
- Ensure safety operation in daily operation
- Report promptly in case of any incident, near miss, unsafe behavior and unsafe condition

Business Responsibilities:
- Manage overall daily operation of on-site container yard, tank container cleaning station and manual truck on-site transportation and provides operations leadership
- Steer, plan and monitor both operation and storage capacity based on monthly handling volume forecast from OD plants, provide and implement solutions when faced on bottleneck
- Organize the team review meeting in regular basis to evaluate the operation condition and logistics KPI’s such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, etc., lead problem solving and define corrective measures
- Actively collaborate and coordinate with business stakeholders (OD plants, SCO, forwarders, etc.) to ensure internal and external customer requirements are met and improve business service level
- Identify operation issue and improvement initiatives, facilitate continues improvement process (CIP), change management (MOC) and innovation projects to achieve operation excellence
- Drive TPM methodology and implementation in daily operation
- Coordination with supportive functions (Asset mgmt., EHS/TDS, Maintenance, Digitalization, etc.) to improve the operational performance
- Steering, planning, monitoring, coordination, permitting and acceptance of maintenance activities
- Collaborate internal and external audit and customer complaints, follow up findings and investigation, ensure corrective/preventive actions implemented on time to enhance customers satisfaction

Quality Management:
- Ensure the objectives and operating procedure of QM system being implemented in daily operation
- Responsible for non-conformance incidence handling (NCM, etc.)

Documentation management:
- Lead the compiling, review and revision of operation procedure and working instruction
- Responsible for operation dashboard and report

People Management:
- Personnel responsibility for shift team, including mobilize people according to worker’s leave application, KPI management, manage the relationship for the team, team member training, career planning
Others
- Complete other tasks assigned by superior leaders.

• Bachelor and above degree in Logistics / Supply Chain / Industrial Engineering / Chemical Process Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
• Above 8 years' experience in container terminal operations including tank cleaning services.
• Above 3 years' experience as operations manager.
• DG container storage and transportation experience is plus.
• Profound knowledge of container terminal operation, transportation and logistics process.
• Familiar with tank container characteristics and related container service.
• Strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills and team spirit.
• Strong logical and systematic thinking.
• Strong knowledge in lean methodologies is plus.
• Fluent English in speaking and writing.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
