Equipment Technician II – Mechanical Equipment / Wyandotte, MI
Our Equipment Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment on site within the ED group. Tasks include complex process equipment installation, maintenance troubleshooting and repairs utilizing advanced skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging, and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces and general building & grounds maintenance. Perform basic welding and fabrication; assist other mechanics in mechanical assignments as required.
This is primarily dayshift working hours, rotating 4 10s (Monday - Thursday for 2 weeks, Tuesday -Friday for 2 weeks) with overtime and call-in availability when required.
General Responsibilities:
· Work with maintenance supervision, other technicians, engineers, and production personnel to design plant equipment and modifications
· Improve equipment reliability by maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and utilizing all resources available. Findings reported to supervision with appropriate recommendations.
· Support, maintain and improve preventive maintenance and Mechanical Integrity Program to insure equipment reliability
· Will utilize shop equipment, e.g., band saw, drill press, grinders, and power hand tools
· Actively participate in plant safety meetings. Works within BASF site and corporate procedures.
· Demonstrates a team-oriented demeanor and has communication, organization and time management skills
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Basic Qualifications:
· High school diploma with at least 4 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
· 1 year of experience performance maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, agitators and gearboxes
· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel & Word)
· Must possess a valid driver’s license
· Must be willing and able to lift 50lbs, carry 25 lbs, push & pull 25 lbs, climb ladders/stairs, bend, kneel, squat and be on your feet for most of your shift.
· Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces AND on scaffolding and lifts for equipment at extreme heights
· Must be able to twist, turn and reach above shoulder level, wrist turning and finger manipulation plus simple to firm grasp ability
Preferred Qualifications:
· AS Degree in a maintenance or repair related discipline
· Maintenance Trade School Certificate or Diploma
· 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
· 1 year of welding experience (MIG and GAS) (ARC and TIG)
· 1 year of experience reading mechanical blueprints
