Canola Seed Production Research Summer Associate: Internship (2301885)

 

Contract Duration: 4 - 6 months (Summer)    

 

Location: Lethbridge, AB  

 

Wage:  $22 – $29 /hour

 

Where the Chemistry Happens…

 

BASF's Intern Program was created to provide highly motivated, mobile-minded current university and college students an opportunity to enhance their professional skills through a variety of diverse learning experiences. This internship allows interns to contribute to real-world business needs, while exploring career options and developing technical and professional decision-making skills. Interns will have the opportunity to assess their capabilities, skills, and interests and gain valuable exposure to BASF's culture, values, and decision-makers.

Formula for Success: You Will…

 

·  Join our team where you will be involved in plot and field scale trials for the Certified Seed Supply team.   

·  Participate in programs evaluating innovative seed canola production methods. The main objective of the program is to improve and optimize production systems that influence seed quality and seed yield from parental lines.   

·  Be responsible for field activities related to the management and data collection from multiple sites located in Southern Alberta, in addition to the collection of data there are responsibilities that include but are not limited to the timely execution of agronomic practices such as planting, spraying, crop synchronization, mowing harvesting and sample processing.      

 

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

 

·  Above average communication skills and the understanding of working on team settings.  

·  Demonstrate problem solving skills/comfortable working alone from time to time. 

·  Ability to be flexible and modify plans as situations arise minimizing impact on results.  

·  Experience with farm equipment (Highly desired).

·  Agronomic knowledge attained through pursuing your degree in Agriculture or similar program, preferably along with experience in the Agriculture or Farming Industry.
