PART 1
Duties & Responsibilities
- Database Management and Maintenance: Supervise the functioning and upkeep of DB2 LUW databases to guarantee their reliability and effectiveness. Carry out regular database administration tasks, such as applying updates and patches.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization: Persistently observe database performance and undertake tuning activities to boost efficiency. Detect and address performance bottlenecks through query optimization and resource distribution.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup strategies to safeguard data and ensure its availability. Conduct regular tests of recovery procedures to confirm that data can be swiftly restored in the event of a failure.
- Health Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Utilize tools like AWS CloudWatch and Dynatrace to monitor database health. Diagnose and resolve database issues to reduce downtime and ensure seamless operations.
- Collaboration with Application Team: Partner closely with the Application Team to support SQL-related tasks and optimize database queries. Aid in the integration of applications with DB2 LUW databases.
- Security and Compliance: Establish security protocols to protect databases and ensure adherence to organizational policies and industry standards. Perform regular security audits and apply necessary patches to defend against vulnerabilities.
- Coordination with Central Team: Work in tandem with the Central team to oversee AWS infrastructure and Dynatrace services, ensuring thorough management of database performance and health.
