The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Motor Fleet underwriting team to ensure professional underwriting standards is provided to internal and external customers, to develop and implement required underwriting action plans and to deliver quality service and financial targets to Plan, whilst always ensuring adherence to company risk, underwriting and compliance standards.
About the role
· Providing quotations and securing New Business & Renewals for large complex Motor Fleet programs (e.g., Aggregate Deductible, below excess claims handling, and others requiring bespoke solutions).
· Driving the development of a customer value proposition (CVP) for the Motor Fleet business in conjunction with key stakeholders (e.g., Claims & Risk Engineering).
· Providing technical support, coaching, and leadership to the national underwriting team on upper Mid Corp Motor Fleet customers and the above.
· Taking Technical/Underwriting ownership of New Business prospecting and pipelining and managing more complex renewal processes.
· Ensuring adherence to the AAL Underwriting Framework, Allianz Standards for Underwriting (ASU), delegated authority levels, company risk, and compliance standards.
· Supporting the development and implementation of appropriate underwriting practices and action plans to achieve Plan financial goals and meet both GWP and Profit objectives.
· Mentoring and coaching a high-performing and supportive team of Motor Fleet Underwriters.
· Providing technical insight into upper Mid Corp & complex Motor Fleet accounts, continuing to embed underwriting capability and knowledge.
· Working with Distribution teams to ensure a highly responsive service mindset is adopted that actively contributes to a strong customer-centric culture.
· Establishing a strategic planning rhythm for pipeline and renewal opportunities with Distribution to maximise conversion and retention rates.
· Contributing to the design of new systems, processes, and procedures to deliver superior underwriting functions.
· Identifying local risk and compliance issues to develop and implement resolution plans.

About you
· Extensive experience in a Motor fleet role in a general insurance organisation is highly desired.
· Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation.
· Demonstrates enthusiasm and ability to optimise business value to customers by delivering high quality services and positive customer experiences to sustain and enhance the customer base.
· Proven deep analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
· Pays high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and can quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
· Deep ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact, and influence.
