What you do
Reporting to the Head of Middle Office Pacific, the Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accounting standards and group accounting policy is complied with for accurate reporting of AzP accounts. The Senior Financial Accountant will;
· Interpret and apply new accounting standards to AWP accounts
· Coordinate external audit and prepare financial statements
· Review full balance sheet, investigate unknown variances and provide a management summary for both AU & NZ.
Key responsibilities include:
· Ensure local IFRS accounting policy is in line with group policy
· Interpret and apply new accounting standards to AzP accounts
· Coordinate external audit and prepare financial statements and Notes
· Deliver Insurance LOB monthly results, perform the calculations related to provisions and accruals & manage related reporting requirements for both AU & NZ regions.
· Ensure end of month close delivery for Insurance LOB. Perform sanity check on all Financial KPIs
· Prepare the annual Financial statements and regulatory reporting and automate where possible. Provide commentary for material balances and variances to prior year.
· Deliver the financial assurance framework over underwriting agency arrangements including review bordereaux reconciliations, reinsurance settlements and financial control reviews.
· Analyse new accounting standards and determine appropriate treatment. Document a position paper where accounting treatment is reliant on a significant degree of interpretation.
· Review balance sheet and ensure no material misstatements. Follow up with balance sheet owner for investigate any variances. Identify and implement further controls where necessary.
· Manage the delivery of Finance user acceptance testing (UAT) for IT system changes impacting financial information to ensure integrity of financial data.
· Working within well-defined finance procedure and following mapped processes.
· Support Team Leader with other duties as required.
What you'd offer in this position:
Qualifications & Experience
· CPA or CA qualified
· Experience in interpreting and applying accounting standards
· Experience in SAP and Cognos TM1 preferable

· Excellent written communication skills
· Analytical, with a strong eye for detail and a high level of financial acumen to achieve accurate and timely reporting of group results
