Location: Guildford (hybrid)
Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum
Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Analyst to work in the Engineering Inspection business (AEIS) with a primary focus on the Engineering Inspection account.
You will contribute to the development, production and analysis of data, using appropriate data feeds to create actionable business insight to the Inspection Team to provide the greatest depth of analysis and insight in the reporting. You will provide recommendations and decisions to support the profitable management of the Inspection lines of business.

Essential Skills & Experience
· Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences and comment on the drivers of financial results
· Data manipulation, interpretation and visualisation skills to deliver insight to the business
· Creativity in using information to deliver actionable insight
· Ability to prepare reports with a high attention to detail
· Establishes and maintains a credible internal and external relationship with key stakeholders ensuring appropriate technical input and support to the Inspection trading team(s) is provided.
· Makes consistently sound decisions in own area of expertise or responsibility and refers when appropriate.
· Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
· Proactive in understanding new requirements and implementing these needs
· Able to use initiative and approach challenges innovatively
· Effective planning and organisation skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
· Commercial awareness and knowledge of the UK Insurance Market.
· Previous experience of working within a general insurer environment with responsibility for results delivery and the use of data and analytics.
· Experience with data analysis/science capabilities
· ACII qualified or progression towards
· Financial Principles and Pricing Techniques completed or working towards.
· Strong financial acumen including
· Proven ability to understand key underwriting concepts and principles.
Key Accountabilities
· Taking proactive ownership of the analysis of data and provision of insight on current and emerging trends, both internal and external, that effect our inspection business and results
· Owning the reporting and data analysis of the Engineering Inspection Account and use this data to create actionable insight to the Inspection Account Manager to consider implementing into the account strategy.
· In conjunction with the Inspection account Manager, produce the revenue plan each year.
· Support the Special Services Manager with analysis and insight into Special Services planning and pricing.
· Provide appropriate data production and reporting, ensuring the portfolio mix is aligned with strategy and ensuring appropriate balance of growth and ultimate profitability is realised, resulting in achievement of Corporate Plan objectives
· Interpret and prepare data and information for the completion of the monthly results meetings identifying key areas of interest to highlight, reviewing account team feedback and creating proposals
· Create, develop and produce new reports, identifying emerging data needs as new pricing methodologies are embedded into the account
