Are you passionate about driving strategic impact and delivering technical excellence? In this role, you’ll lead the implementation of key technical strategies for property claims, both personal and commercial lines, helping to optimise indemnity spend while providing valuable insights that support business growth and profitability.

 

This is a Hybrid role - multi site working is available, specific location for this role can be discussed at interview.

About You

 

  • Lead the development and execution of indemnity and large loss strategies across the line of business.
  • Define key metrics to enable effective target setting and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver actionable insights from internal claims data and external market or legislative changes.
  • Set estimating and handling philosophies for claims, ensuring alignment with technical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage reputational risk on high-profile, high-value claims.
  • Collaborate with claims teams to deliver a compliant, high-performing technical claims service.
  • Drive continuous improvement through best practice and innovation.
  • Champion a digitally and data-led approach to future-fit technical strategies.
  • Represent claims in internal forums and contribute to the senior leadership team.
  • Ensure customer focus remains central while balancing indemnity spend.
  • Provide expert input into product and policy development.
  • Build strong relationships across commercial and personal lines stakeholders.
  • Represent the business at external forums and meetings requiring claims expertise.
  • Deputise for the Director of Technical Claims as needed.
  • Lead the strategy for technical learning and development across claims handling teams.
  • Sponsor claims quality programmes and act as a role model for technical claims staff.
  • Attract, inspire, and develop high-calibre teams, providing growth opportunities that engage and challenge.
  • Own the technical governance and competence of the claims supplier panel.
  • Develop and prioritise technical initiatives that drive excellence.
  • Ensure Allianz Claims maintains a strong presence and influence in the market.
  • Provide technical input into market consultations.
  • Ensure Group technical functional rule requirements are understood and adhered to, while contributing to strategies that enable best practice performance within the Group’s technical excellence frameworks.

 

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive technical claims knowledge across a broad spectrum of claim types.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement claims strategies with commercial impact.
  • Strong market presence and ability to contribute meaningfully to industry discussions.
  • Up-to-date with market developments and able to provide thought leadership.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Full awareness of FCA/PRA regulatory requirements.
  • Deep business and market understanding.
  • Solid grasp of how claims performance affects reserving, pricing, and planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and data insight capabilities.
  • Proven leadership experience within a matrix structure.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Confident in managing financial budgets.
  • Collaborative working style with a track record of successful technical strategy delivery.
  • Ability to balance indemnity control with customer, budgetary, and people measures.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Ideally educated to degree level.
  • ACII or other relevant professional qualifications preferred.
