In order to support the Aeromechanics and Performance department, Airbus Helicopters is looking for a VIE - Development of simulation models for the performance analysis of helicopters (d/f/m).

Definition VIE

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities

You will contribute to the following main activities within the Aeromechanics and Performance department:

· 
Setup analytical and numerical models for the analysis, prediction and assessment of rotorcraft flight performance by means of in-house specialized softwares;

· 
Validate the above mentioned models against experimental data, both from open literature and from company own flight test measurements;

· 
Analyze discrepancies and provide recommendations for improvements based on own research;

· 
Implement new solutions and features within our rotorcraft flight mechanics and performance analysis software in order to expand their capabilities;

· 
Explore the possibility to model major rotorcraft aeromechanics components (i.e. rotors, engines, etc.) by means of data driven AI algorithms.

Desired skills and qualifications

· 
You have successfully completed your diploma (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent degree);

· 
You are proficient and have practical experience with scripting programming languages like Python and Matlab/Simulink;

· 
You have affinity with numerical methods (numerical solution of non-linear equations, differential equations, optimization algorithms, etc.) and AI techniques for the purpose of approximate functions and building surrogate models;

· 
Basic knowledge of compiled programming languages such as Fortran and C/C++ would be of advantage;

· 
Basic knowledge of Linux-based operating systems would be of advantage;

· 
You possess graduate-level knowledge in the field of aerodynamics and aeronautical propulsion. Basic knowledge of helicopter flight mechanics and performance principles would be of advantage;

· 
You are an active listener and customer oriented;

·

· 
You are solution oriented and pragmatic

· 
Language Skills: English: intermediate; German & / or French would be a plus.
