A vacancy for an FPGA Developer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Friedrichshafen. The successful applicant will join “Computing Platforms for Avionics”.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

· Develop an understanding of the required functionality using system level descriptions and specifications
· Analyse design and prototype digital PCBs including FPGAs
· Design FPGA and implement:

+ Image processing FPGA architectures for next generation graphics
+ Developing and improving existing VHDL modules, reusing and integrating IP modules
+ Defining hardware and firmware interfaces and protocols
+ Implementing DDR, LPDDR, FIFO, ARM controllers within FPGA
+ Optimising power, size and use
+ Creating simulation and verification environments, test benches, validating designs

· Performing hardware/firmware testing
· Producing Reviews/Documentation
· Performing hardware design functionality verifications
· Reviewing specifications; generating system and module-level block diagrams, flow diagrams and design concepts
· Integrating sub-Systems and testing hardware modules

Desired profile

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

· Educated to degree level in electrical engineering or equivalent
· Experience in FPGA design using VHDL
· Experience in implementing digital signal processing algorithms in FPGAs
· Experience in using Matlab to test and verify VHDL-based FPGA designs
· Experience in using Xilinx/MicroSemi development tools
· Experience in using ModelSim for simulation and debugging
· Experience in Signal Processing and Video Processing applications
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Fluent German and advanced English skills
