Job Description

Comply at all times with Fairmont standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Approach all encounters in a friendly service oriented manner.

Inspect plant and equipment, staffing, plans, supplies and schedules. Supervise maintenance and preventive maintenance of the plant and all hotel controlled equipment.

Suggest and recommend possible projects to management for future capital budgets. Assist Director in supervising and coordinating contractors and hotel labor in performing project work.

Coordinate with other departments work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set by hotel policy and law requirements.

Maintains own and hotel special permits and licenses as required by local authorities.

Provides support and special services to Events department and commercial tenants to the extent agreed by management.

Works with Purchasing Manager to ensure delivery, price, quality and quantity of supplies and equipment. 

Qualifications

Mechanical school or equivalent.

Vocational school desirable.

Stationary Engineer's license or other trade license as required by local regulations. Valid MA driver's license.

Working knowledge of all machinery in a hotel, mechanical drawings, math and physics.

At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 2 year college degree and minimum 3 years of related experience; or a 4 year college degree and 1 more year of related experience.

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

Must be able to work in stressful situations and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworker and guests.
