Job Summary

The Transformer Load Tap Changer (LTC) Technician is responsible to plan and execute complex semi-technical field assignments involving the quoting, installation, modification, test, inspection or repair of distribution and power transformers with Load Tap Changers. The LTC Technician provides support in conducting standard site surveys to develop base or installation design plans and facilitates new orders through direct customer interface. Provides support in training customers to maintain and adjust LTC's.

Reports directly to the QTC Manager. Effective communication with Project Managers (PMs), Business Development Managers (BDMs), National Resource Manager (NRM), and Crew Leaders (CLs) is required.

Travel is required and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions

Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· 
Perform complex Transformer Load Tap Changer (LTC) field service operations that typically present unusual problems requiring strong technical skills.

· 
Provide leadership in developing new customers with LTC service needs

· 
Troubleshoot and repair Transformer LTC equipment, applying own knowledge and experience to resolve problems

· 
Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction

· 
Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs, and assist in determining resource requirements

· 
Assist in planning and coordinating field service team efforts. May be required to prepare quotes, enter and close orders for services projects, and manage projects as required to support the service business

· 
Provide training to non-expert technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment

· 
Often work non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions

· 
As need arises will serve as the lead on field projects while communicating clearly and professionally to customers

· 
Prepare field service job/trip reports using Microsoft word to ensure accurate reporting and cost management of each project

· 
Reviews and fully understands the project's agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.

· 
Support the preparation of proposals and proposal work statements/specifications as needed.

· 
Provide onsite support of transformer D&T and warranty projects as needed

· 
Provide timely and completed documentation of work performed and ensure test data is submitted

· 
Resolve customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction

· 
Attends pre-construction meetings as required with all involved parties and agencies.

· 
Identify customers with non-Siemens install base and check for the available retrofit options

· 
Drive safety culture for Service Center employees consistent with existingSiemens safe working procedures/practices.

· 
Provide proper upkeep and management of all tooling and accurate inventory of each Siemens asset issued

Requirements:
· 
2-year technical degree in related discipline or at least 10 years in transformer LTC service field

· 
10+ years of experience in technical assembly, maintenance and repair of Load Tap Changers with extensive experience in power and distribution transformers / transformer accessories in utility/energy electrical industry

· 
Expert level skill in Load Tap Changer (LTC) maintenance and repair

· 
Multiple LTC OEM experience, i.e. Reinhausen, Allis-Chalmers, etc

· 
Experience with field service operations and transformer testing

· 
Strong vacuum and oil processing understanding

· 
Possesscomprehensive skills to read, interpret, and understand the scope of work, assembly, general arrangement drawings, electrical prints and one-line diagrams, as well as test data and factory instruction manuals

· 
Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in a professional manner on all aspects of LTC & transformer service activities, verbal or written, whilst understanding the importance of protecting the company's propriety information and intellectual property rights.

· 
Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients, vendors and colleagues.

· 
Responsible for timely, accurate, and detailed reporting for each project supported

· 
Effective business judgment and decision-making skills.

· 
Knowledge and ability to work with computers and Microsoft Office Systems

· 
US Citizenship required

· 
Possession of or ability to attain a US Passport for international travel

· 
Possession of or ability to attain a DOD Security Clearance

· 
Must be available to travel approximately 80%
