What will you do?
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Removes and replaces track and track components.
- Inspect and repair rail lubricators.
- Clean Flangeways.
- Remove graffiti and garbage from alignment.
- Removes and replaces ballast.
- Corrects deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge.
- Observes condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defects.
- Installs and repairs street and railroad crossings.
- Complies with all company and railroad safety rules, practices and regulations.
General/Other Responsibilities and Duties
- Digs holes and trenches.
- Repair fence.
- Sorts track material for loading and unloading.
- Cleans tracks and clears ice and snow from tracks and switch boxes.
- Lubricates machines, changes oil, and fills hydraulic reservoirs to specified levels.
- Cuts brush and vegetation from the right-of-way.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Alignment housekeeping.

What will you need to succeed?
Qualifications
- Experience with track installation, maintenance and repair is an asset.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, both general and technical.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Good verbal skills to communicate and coordinate with crew and managers.
- Basic computer skills (word, excel)
- DZ driver's license is an asset.
- Machine operation experience an asset.
- Able and willing to work rotating shifts to support a 24/7/365 operation
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Works outdoors and able to be exposed to all weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds on uneven terrain
- Exposed to loud noise.
- Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to maintain concentration and mental alertness in a variety of situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
