We are looking for a Technical Writer Intern in Chicago, IL location.

We are looking for a motivated individual ready to jump in and support our development teams with preparing and reorganizing technical content for software projects.

This Technical Communication internship will position you to be integral part of a Siemens engineering team and work closely with technical documentation experts as well as software developers and testers. You will have the opportunity to gain experience with a content management system and apply your knowledge in all aspects of technical communications in an agile work environment.

You will be asked to research, analyze and organize content using the latest technologies and applying industry best-practices to drive the growth of Siemens as technical writer/editor.

The program is a 12–13-week internship position and is designed to help you create a successful career path as a software leader within Siemens.

You will make an impact by:

  • Applying your problem-solving skills to document complex workflows and procedures
  • Developing content with audience and purpose in mind
  • Working in cross-functional team environment
  • Applying the tools and critical thinking skills needed to be an effective communicator in your professional life.

Internship Overview

  • Participate in an internship supporting across Smart Infrastructure businesses.
  • Receive regular formal training in Agile software development, technical skill development, leadership, and eye for business.
  • Work alongside senior technical writers and other program participants to deliver business value on tight deadlines.
  • Report out regularly to senior business leaders on deliverables.
  • Partner with mentors
  • Exposure to a global work environment

Your defining qualities:

  • Majors: bachelor’s degree in English or Technical Communications.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Chicago, IL area.
  • Work Authorization: Permanent work authorization in the U.S. is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High interest in learning new technologies quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate and articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Leadership skills inside and outside the classroom
  • Curiosity and passion for trying new things.

The hourly pay range for this position is $15.00-$28.00. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
