The Role - Overview

This role is for a Principal Engineer – System Lead (PE - System Lead), who will concurrently lead both functional and line management teams. These highly specialised teams will consist of highly competent and qualified system engineering and software professionals, many of which will be expert in their field. The PE - System Lead be expected to play both the roles of strategist, decision taker and mentor as required, in addition to themselves conducting high value technology tasks to support the delivery of the objectives their teams have been set.

  • System Integration
  • System Functional and Non-functional Validation and Acceptance
  • System Prototyping, Integration and Validation Test Environment Design & Procurement

 

You’ll win us over by …

  • A formal qualification in a relevant engineering, scientific or numerate discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status highly preferable
  • Significant experience in systems engineering or design or integration/validation of safety critical or safety related real-time embedded systems.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle, cost awareness and awareness of processes involved in other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in the development of Signalling Systems, Automatic Train Protection products, or other large programmable electronic systems.
  • Experience in the use of requirements toolsets such as DOORS™ or semi-formal system modelling methods (such as SysML or the UML).
  • Experience of working to industry quality and safety standards (CENELEC and/or UNISIG).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated, dependable and self-reliant.
