System Design Engineer (SPPAL)

Job description

What are my responsibilities?

· Understand customers’ operational requirements for airport material handling applications. Develop functional concepts and layouts. Specify technical requirements.
· Detail design of baggage / Cargo handling equipment / Systems. Application engineering for material handling equipment. Co-ordination of designs with customers, suppliers, partners, etc.
· Support PM and project team in system and mechanical equipment design, installation, testing and commissioning.
· Quality Management System: Development, implementation and documentation of a consistent Quality Management System based on quality related requirements and in conformity with the Siemens Process Framework. Interaction with internal and external design, purchasing, installation and commissioning staff. Ensure process conformance with PM@Siemens processes.
· Checklists and specifications: Establish and develop QM checklists and specifications out of design input and in connection with engineering and purchasing.
· Embedded quality in processes and projects: Ensure implementation and controlling of quality gates in supplier's works. Spot checks on supplier’s quality processes and tasks. Spot checks on supplier's supplies to ensure conformity with QM expectation.
· Co-ordination of standard design criteria with the headquarters in Germany

What do I need to qualify for this job?

· Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
· At least 5 years of experience in similar function
· At least 5 years of experience with baggage/cargo handling systems.
· Good knowledge of air cargo processes, air cargo equipment, baggage handling processes and baggage handling equipment
· Experience in QC for minimum of 3 years
· Good knowledge of material handling process like cargo, baggage, postal
· Good CAD knowledge (AutoCAD)
· Good knowledge of Conceptix and Layout Editor tool usage and Requirement analysis
· Familiar with Quality management and statistical methods, benchmarking, audits, reviews and assessments
· Good knowledge of quality assurance know-how, product safety issues and risk management
· Willing to travel
