Sustainable Building Controls Engineer/ Senior Engineer (Remote)

We are seeking a skilled andexperienced, full-time Sustainable Building Controls Engineer. Conductresearch that leads to high impact to decarbonize buildings and grids.  Bring research to fruition by developingmarket-oriented technological solutions. This role is based in Princeton, NJ and on-site is optimal however theposition offers the flexibility for remote work within the continentalU.S. 

 
Responsibilities: 

  • Identify pre-development opportunities for sustainabletechnology offerings.
  • Provide strategic direction for product development insustainable energy and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Siemens Business Units to create impactfulsolutions.
  • Analyze and model carbon footprints for grids, sites, and supplychains.
  • Develop models for energy and infrastructure planning andoperation.
  • Draft grant proposals andcollaborate on research, development, and consulting projects with partners. 

You’ll win us over by having thefollowing qualifications:  

 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering,Environmental Science, Building Engineering, or Physics from an accreditedUniversity.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience for an Engineer, and 5-10years of work experience for a Senior Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience in building controls and energyoptimization.
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, KNX, and LonWorks interfacingwith Building Energy Management Systems (such as Desigo CC).
  • Programming building control logic in edge devices or cloudplatform to interface with the BMS and building equipment.
  • Knowledge of building automation and controls and simulation ofbuildings, power systems, HVAC, and electrification.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, Go, Julia, or C/C++.
  • Technoeconomic analysis and lifecycle emission assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience developing government grant proposals.
  • Author of high-quality research publications.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as EnergyPlus, Modelica,MATLAB.
  • Integration of buildings with the grid, vehicles, storage systems,and other DERs (Distributed Energy Resources).
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity,and Inclusion.
  • Experience in industrial decarbonization, site energy control andoptimization, and business case development.

The pay range for this position is$81,100 - $186,700. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending onbudget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premiumgeographic location.
