Crucial to ensuring continued success is providing our customers with a comprehensive product portfolio that meets their needs. Our R&D departments around the world are focused in helping to achieve this through, our innovation, fast time to market and most importantly our people and culture. 

At Siemens Congleton, we design and manufacture AC electronics motor controllers known as drives, with a power range from a few hundred Watts up to 10s of Kilowatts and voltage ranges of 200-690V. These products not only help our customers better control and digitalise their machines, they can also help improve their carbon footprint. 

  

We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Summer placement student - Electronics design within our Congleton R&D department. The successful person will work as part of an electronics design & testing team with the responsibility of design, simulation and testing of drives. 

 

Daily duties include: 

 

  • Learning and working with new technological solutions which helps factories save energy, optimise operational costs and reduce their carbon footprint 
  • Supporting practical building; commissioning and testing of electrical hardware and systems 
  • Performing systematic root cause analysis to determine hardware and configuration issues 
  • Use of simulation tools in electrical circuit design 
  • Creating and maintaining reference documentation and experimental results logs. 

 

What do I need to apply?  


  • Currently pursuing a degree in electronic or electrical engineering discipline or similar (such as ICT, industrial communications, control engineering, Power electronics etc). – Other disciplines will also be considered 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Willing to learn and explore new knowledge and domain areas 
  • Work to timescales and be flexible and adaptable 
  • Zero harm mentality and ensure works safely 
  • Basic hands-on skills – prototyping, using basic test equipment e.g multi-meters, oscilloscopes 
  • Motivated to get involved and find solutions 
  • Knowledge of electronic simulation would be advantageous
