SoftwareDevelopment Engineer Intern

Siemens EDAis looking for a software development engineer to work as an Intern in theMentor Emulation Division (MED). MED develops and manufactures emulators forfunctional verification of System-on-Chip circuit designs. In emulationsystems, custom software compiles a circuit design's high-level descriptioninto a low level binary representation that can be loaded and run on theemulation hardware. The individual that fills this position will become amember of emulator compiler specialists developing the compiler software forSiemens next generation emulators.

The SoftwareDevelopment Engineer will have responsibilities in development and improvementof the part of the compiler that analyzes the customer design in order to mapit on the emulator resources. This includes analysis of clock and datanetworks, partitioning, placing and synthesis of logic to support the mappingof the customer design onto the emulator. The individual will participate indesign and implementation of new functionality for this part of the compiler.The work will be mostly in C++ on Linux. They will write system level teststhat use software simulation as well as develop new testing methods. Thisposition may include interaction with other software teams as well as MEDhardware teams in an international, multi-site, development environment.

RequiredSkills:

·        PreferredMS, PHD, or BS junior/senior level undergraduate students in Computer Scienceor Computer Engineering.

·        Softwaredevelopment experience with C++ applications.

·        Experiencewith algorithm and data structure design.

·        Excelboth in a team-oriented development and working independently.


DesiredSkills:

·        Experiencein EDA software development, especially in timing analysis, synthesis, designpartition or placement is a plus.

·        Softwareengineering skills with experience in use of Unix/Linux

·        Experiencewith software testing methods.

·        BasicUnderstanding of gate level digital logic design.

·        Experiencein use of Hardware description language (Verilog/VHDL).

·        Experiencein use of a software simulation tools (Modelsim, etc).

·        Knowledgeof scripting languages (PERL or Python) would be useful.

Thehourly range for this position is $22.00 to $50.00. Siemens offers a variety ofhealth and wellness benefits to employees.
