Spindle Technician- Mechanical technician

We have a unique and rare opportunity for a Mechanical technician to join us as a Spindle Technician. The new role will join our rebuild team based in Handforth Dean supporting our DF CS Spindle and Motor Repair Business within Siemens. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in a friendly, experienced team environment, responsible for ensuring all our machine tool spindles and motors are repaired to the highest standard. This is a varied role where full training will be given to the successful candidate. We are looking for someone who is punctual and reliable with excellent attention to detail- ideally a time served mechanical technician or in the 3 rd year of their apprenticeship

What are my responsibilities?

· 
Strip and assess incoming machine tool spindles and motors.

· 
Formulate a report based on findings, estimate what is required to rebuild the products to a satisfactory standard.

· 
Fault finding capabilities to establish the reasons for failure.

· 
Polish and prepare parts in readiness for rebuild.

· 
Rebuild of products with new components, ensuring the correct specifications are adhered to.

· 
Fully test the products before dispatch, this includes running up the products to top speed and analysing the results, encoder set-up, tool sensor set-up, gripping forces and run-outs.

· 
Maintain the condition of the workshop, keep the place clean and tidy, look after tooling and equipment.

· 
Monitor quality guidelines, report any changes or improvements to Management.

· 
Work in a safe responsible manner, report near misses and unsafe acts.

· 
Be aware of environmental responsibilities, adhere to guidelines detailed in BSI14001 quality assurance plan

What do I need to qualify for this job?

· 
A good understanding of mechanical fitting and machining.

· 
A desire to learn new skills

· 
The ability to work within a team and carry out all work in a timely and efficient manner

· 
A good understanding of Health & Safety standards with the ability to recognise a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

· 
The ability to read engineering drawings.

· 
Be able to use basic hand tools.

· 
Understand and work to close tolerances using measuring equipment.

· 
The use of lifting equipment will be part of this role, training will be provided but prior experience would be beneficial.

This will be a hands-on role with real scope for development, with our inhouse training in a highly knowledgeable and experienced team that rarely recruit.
