This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional,looking for the next step in their career. As a Senior Staff Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Research, development, and product innovation activities at our site in Walpole, MA
  • Leading diagnostics innovation projects with a focus on new biomarker assays for use in neurology, cardiovascular health, infectious disease, and oncology
  • Performing various laboratory techniques with a focus on protein analysis and automated immunoassays, but extending to DNA/RNA and cell-based analyses when needed
  • Applying your expertise to discovery of clinically useful biomarkers, technology assessment, development of assays, and collaborative research utilizing the Siemens Healthineers’ Atellica Solution and other instrument platforms
  • Writing internal and external funding applications
  • Planning studies and executing experiments within budgets and timelines
  • Drafting technical protocols and reports, submitting invention disclosures, and providing project updates to management
  • Authoring peer-reviewed journal publications and presenting research at conferences
  • Maintaining internal and external scientific collaborations

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment while maintaining a high-level of attention to detail
  • Experience participating in and leading multi-site and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Requiredskills to have for the success of this role

  • A graduate degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, or related discipline is required
  • At least 5 years of relevant industry or academic research experience is also required
  • Excellent laboratory skills including a background in biomarker discovery and immunoassay development, with a particular emphasis on assay prototyping, optimization, performance verification and validation, control system design and implementation
  • Additional expertise in antibody development, conjugation chemistry, protein purification, proteomics, and mass-spectrometry are a plus
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with business partners, interactions with suppliers, and coordinating academic or clinical collaborations are also important skills
  • A working knowledge of laboratory testing applied to diagnosis, selection of patients for therapy, optimizing dosage, monitoring response or safety testing is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with the ADVIA Centaur, the Atellica Solution, or other automated immunoassay platforms is also relevant
  • Approximately 10% travel may be required
