We are looking for a Power Systems Planning Consultant. You will work on exciting projects applying power systems planning principles, simulation and analysis of power system reliability steady state and dynamic behavior, and delivery of technical consulting/training services. Typical projects include generator interconnection studies, transmission planning reliability studies, renewable generation prospecting, and carbon emission reduction studies. This is a remote position based in the Contiguous U.S.

You’ll make an impact as you:

  • Drive project responsibility for power system analysis (especially transmission planning), delivering results on time and within budget through regular status reporting to satisfy the needs of our customers.
  • Create draft reports and presentations with study results for review by senior staff and managers.
  • Contribute to business development and proposal creation.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a growth mindset as you participate in training and mentoring opportunities.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or power systems engineering, with practical experience in using advanced power system analysis tools.
  • ***We are unable to consider F1 visa holders for this role.***
  • 3+ years of experience required in transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow. transient stability, and/or electromagnetic transients. Candidates with an advanced degree in power systems engineering may substitute practical work experience for academic research/projects.
  • Experience using PSS® E.or PSLF required.
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred qualifications:

  • Formal education in Power Systems Engineering preferred.
  • Experience with other software such as TARA, Aspen, PSCAD, or EMTP is a plus.
  • Programming skills preferred.
  • Experience in distribution planning and/or production costing.

  • The salary range for this position is $81,130- $169,680. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
