Within the research group Systems Engineering, we are searching for a Research Engineer –Physical Modelling and Failure Analysisto join our research team in Leuven, Belgium, for the duration of 3 years. The research activities will mainly be carried out at Siemens Industry Software N.V. located in Leuven, Belgium.
Objective:
Research Engineers apply their expertise and knowledge to technical projects, products and prototypes. The research aims to find innovative, cost-effective means to improve internal and external research, methods, methodologies, and/or products and technologies. Responsibilities include developing, conducting, and evaluating new approaches to meet project/product objectives faster and more efficiently.
This position reports to the RTD Manager.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
· Physical Modelling and Failure Modelling of mechanical structures, e.g. drivetrains.
· Development and Validation of a Root Cause Analysis Method.
· Research and technical developmentofprototype products and technologies.
· Research project execution (automotive and manufacturing).
· Coordinate and communicate work effort within the organization.
· Identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets.
· Contribute toand writescientific papers and applications for patents.
· Contribute to and write research proposals at national and international level.
Profile
· University degree M.Sc. or higher in Engineering.
· Minimum 2 years of experience with simulation software like LMS Imagine.Lab Amesim or Matlab/Simulink
· Interest in transmissions, drive trains and other mechanical devices.
· Interest in failure modelling and analysis for e.g. shaft misalignments.
· Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (C/C++, Matlab, or others)
· Fluency in English is required.
