Electrification & Automation
The Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future.
We are looking for a Prototype Assembly Tech - R&D. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
The Siemens R&D team is looking for a prototype assembly workerto join our team in Electrification and Automation (EA). As aprototype assembly worker, you will be responsible foraiding the project managers and test lab personnelin the successful execution of prototype builds and test programs, from design and setup through teardown. You will work in a matrix style organization requiring excellent coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Headquartered in Wendell, NC, the EAR&D team executes a diverse portfolio of projects for low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment. The prototype assembly workercomes with ample opportunities for growth, reflective of Siemens mission to empower people with a growth mindset. As a development team, we learn from our failures so that we can drive innovation for the company.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support R&D designers, Project Manager, R&D projects for setting up prototype, handling of parts, setting up test object in internal and external labs
- Ready to travel within USA and Mexico, at times greater than one week if necessary
- Capable to manage simple statistic / stock list in MS Excel or other tools.
- Basic know-how in assembling of bus assemblies and structures
- Basic know-how on electrical assembly (low voltage wiring, i.e. control and power wiring)
- Read bill of material, follow layout, assembly and electrical drawings
- Forklift experience mandatory, sit-down, and standup
- Car driver license
- Crane license with experience to move items around factory
- Flexible to accept and manage large scope of different working tasks
- Good team player and capable to work with different “part time leader” together
- Follow safety rules
- Experience working with hand and power tools
- Willingness to learn and to adopt
- Language: English
- A general statement capable to lift a max weight of? (Check with HR)
- Experience reading and using JT files
- SAP experience to look up material
- Ability to use safely: drill press, PEM setter, vertical bandsaw, grinder/belt sander
- Willing to learn and team player

Basic Qualifications:
- At least 5 years work experience in similar area
- Ability to understand electrical and mechanical technical drawings
- Ability to understand electrical and mechanical technical specifications, data sheets, etc.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of maintenance means and methods for electrical/mechanical equipment
- Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated oral & written communications skills

This position may be required to work alternative shifts as necessary including weekends and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in high voltage, utility scale electrical/mechanical equipment assembly
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Language: Spanish

- The pay range for this position is $49,140 - $84,240 + Overtime. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
