Position Title: Power Systems Planning Consultant

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients, such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers, to develop solutions for the reliability of the power systems. Responsible for the application of power systems planning principles, simulation and analysis of power systems steady state and dynamic behavior, development of mathematical models for reliability assessment of electrical networks, and delivery of technical consulting and training services. Work on small to medium sized projects, in computer environment where design is semi-complex. Analyze customer’s business requirements and application objectives, and develop solutions to meet customer’s needs. Conduct periodic status checks with customer and team to assess progress against plan. Estimate time frames, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement semi-complex project; support development of project plan incorporating all project variables. Prepare weekly status reports on all project activities. Produce draft reports and presentation with study results for the review of supervisors. Participate in pre-sales support as needed. Remote employment permitted.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems, Electrical Power Systems Engineering, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as a Power Systems Engineering Intern or a related field. The Employer will also accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems, Electrical Power Systems Engineering, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or as a Power Systems Engineering Intern or a related field.

The position requires experience with the following: Transmission system planning or operations; Analyzing power flow, transient stability, or electromagnetic transients; Using advance power system analysis tools; Ability to program; Distribution system planning; PSS®E, PSS®SINCAL, or PSLF.
