You will join the Siemens Grid Software Quality Assurance team as a Quality Assurance Engineer for our PSS® product offerings. Along with other team members, you will be responsible for validating our world-renowned PSS® software platform. The PSS® platform is used by a large number of national and international electrical utilities and consulting firms to conduct power system studies that aid in the maintenance, stability, and expansion of the electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. Given this importance, we are looking for the brightest talents to join our team.
Here's the part you can play in this role:
· Be the first point of contact for PSS® E R&D/Product Management team to evaluate PSS® E, validate all PSS® E product releases, identify defects in PSS® E features and components, determine the test plan, initiate, and implement all PSS® E quality assurance activities
· Act as owner of product defects until resolved, design, develop and execute automation scripts using test automation tools such as TestComplete, TestExecute and Python
· Create and review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback and ensure, via testing, that product conforms to requirements
· Design well-structured test plans and test cases using test case management tools like HP ALM, or X-ray
· Perform regression testing to verify that bug fixes and new features do not introduce defects elsewhere in the product
· Work with internal and external stakeholders on the resolution of fundamental software issues with PSS® E and shepherd resolution through subject matter experts, application owners, or other technical resources, as needed
· Prioritize, research, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve product defects within the internal and external PSS®E landscape
· Coordinate and communicate with different teams and follow standard procedures to escalate unresolved issues and defects to appropriate internal departments
· Act as product advocate at Siemens and consult with R&D and Product Management to ensure that customers receive a defect-free PSS® E product with every new release
· Enhance the quality infrastructure by maintaining cloud platforms and proactively fixing vulnerabilities
· Be prepared to be available and support different US teams in Eastern and Central time zones
· Prioritize, research, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve customer submitted and internal PSS® E product defects.
To be part of our team, here is what is needed:
· Possess a completed Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
· 3+ years of power engineering or computer engineering with experience in Testing and/or systems-related roles
· Work Experience in Power engineering concepts, transformer modeling, MATLAB or similar tools in study projects or otherwise
· Strong knowledge of software lifecycle and QA methodologies, tools, and processes
· Experience in basic to intermediate Python programming
· Experience in writing clear and comprehensive test plans and test cases
· Experience and/or involvement with white box, black box application testing, UAT, and performance testing operations
· Strong communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal
· Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively self-manage and multi-task
· Experience with training customers and internal teams on basic product functionalities
· Solid collaboration and people skills with a focus on delivering impeccable customer experience with high quality products
· Possess positive and energetic attitude with the ability to work independently
· Experience working with customer support platforms such as Zendesk and Freshdesk
· Experience with documenting best practices for software processes and defects.
What makes you different from other candidates:
- Experience in system administration and user management, critical patching, and vulnerability management
- Experience leading or participating in defect root-cause analysis, defect management and mitigation
- Experience providing end-user support including troubleshooting at the application level and coordinating with development teams for issue and defect closure
- Experience working with third-party tool vendors to resolve hosting, infrastructure, or integration issues
- End-to-end configuration and implementation of at least one project using VMware or cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services or open-source platforms such as GIT
- Experience with installation, setup, and configuration of cloud-based Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as CloudFront, EC2 and S3
- Test engineering background to triage customer-reported defects and issues.
